Encounter With Theology

Let us begin to muse today from James 1:17-18. In order for us to enjoy the blessings of God there must be a divine encounter with Theology. The word ‘theology’ means a study of who God is. One has said that it doesn’t matter what you believe but what matters is your behavior. I can say with the authority of the Bible, that the only thing that will change ones behavior is what he believes. I want to begin our study of Theology by looking at God’s name. In verse 17 He is called ‘the Father of lights’. When one is flying in an airplane and landing at night you will be confronted with all the lights of the city. This is not the word used for ‘lights’ in our title. The power source that produces all the lights  of the city is the word used in the title, ‘the Father of lights’. There can be no illumination, revelation, understanding, or clarity without Him. If we know not the Father of lights we are destined to walk in the dark both now and forever more.
