The Removal Of Somethings
Let us muse today from James 1:19-21 and a proper encounter with our testimony on the road to God’s blessings. I am told that a good testimony involves the removal of somethings by laying them aside. We are told to lay aside sins defilement. The context speaks of having a sensitive spirit to the least thing that defiles our life. There are three things mentioned in this text that will help develope a sensitive spirit. In verse 19 we are told to be swift to hear. Lord, give me an ear for your word and a desire to ignore that which is not of an eternal value. The second thing that helps our development is slow to speak. Lord, let be careful little mouth what I say for the Father up above is looking down in love. The mouth is the place where the heart is displayed. The third is slow to anger. I use to tell my grandma when I got mad that I lost my temper that I flew off the handle. She said if you didn’t climb up on the handle you would not fly off. Lord, let me be careful what I take in, it has the potential to come out later.
