Songs Of Forgiveness
Let us muse today upon some quotes from men and great hymns of the past. Peter Marshall once prayed, “Father, forgive me, Lord Jesus, for the things I have done that make me feel uncomfortable in thy presence.” Many songs have borne a verse on forgiveness. Just a few come to mind. ‘My sin not in part, but the whole, were nailed to the tree, and I bear them no more.’ ‘Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe, sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.’ ‘There is a fountain filled with blood, sinners plunged beneath that flood, loose all their guilty stains.’ One of my all-time favorites that I learned probably 50 years ago is ‘Roll away, roll away, roll away. Every burden of my heart rolled away. All my sin had to go, neath the crimson flow. Roll away, roll away, roll away. Every burden of my heart, rolled away.’
