The Directing Wound
Let us muse today from Psalm 105:17-19 and the great wound of which Joseph received at the hand of his brothers. Who was behind such a wound? In verse 17 we have the phrase ‘he sent a man’. The phrase speaks of God ordaining the going of Joseph down into Egypt by way of a wound by his brothers. In verse 18 we have the word ‘hurt‘ which is our word for an inflicting pain. In verse 18 the phrase ‘laid in iron‘ is a hurt that reaches to the depths of our soul and spirit. It is clear Joseph is dealing with a wounded spirit. In verse 19 the overall purpose of such a wound is to try Joseph with the Word of God. May our wounds drive us to His Word. There is healing in the Word for a wounded spirit.
