The Invisible Work

Let us muse today from Genesis 39:1-3,6,&21-23. It is here that we find the Directing Work of a Sovereign God in the life of Joseph by an Invisible Work. On four different occasions people told Joseph that ‘The Lord Was With Him’. Those who told him were pagans. One a Gentile army leader and another a Gentile prison keeper. Why would God send this message? When we are wounded in spirit the first thing that we think is that God has left us. He reminds Joseph four times that God was with him. The word ‘with’ takes on a five-fold position in the Old Testament. God went before him, beside him, behind him, under him, and over him. There is a two-fold addition in the New Testament. Not only is God before, behind, beside, under, and over but He is in us and we are in Him. When we are wounded in spirit we may feel that He is not there but we can take Him at His word when He said, ‘I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.’
