A Judgemental Spirit
Let us muse today from Matthew 7:3&5 and a Judgemental Spirit as it relates to the Doctrine of Forgiveness. The word ‘mote’ in out text means a small particle or speck of straw. The word ‘beam’ is our word for telephone pole. Let us be careful in trying to take a speck out of our brother’s eye when we have a telephone pole in our own eye. I am reminded when several years ago and some of my family visited a service where I was preaching. A young lady came and was gloriously saved at the conclusion of the service. When we got in the car, my wife and I were still rejoicing over the ladies salvation. One of my family said, ‘Did you see how short her skirt was?’ It was an obvious attempt at the removal of a speck by one with a pole in their own eye. The pole in their eye was blocking their view of the work of the glorious gospel of grace.
