Judging Self
Let us muse today from Matthew 7:2 & 5 and the subject of Judging Self as it pertains to the Doctrine of Forgiveness. Remember in verse 2 we are told that the same measurement we use to judge others will be used to judge us. I am told in verse 5 to be careful of being a hypocrite. The word means to hide behind a mask. Oh, how these truths will cause us to examine ourselves with greater condemnation and others with greater mercy. At a recent communion service I was tempted to judge someone about their lifestyle and their right to partake of the Lord’s Supper. While I was contemplating judging them I saw on my bulletin the words, ‘Let a man examine himself’. I turned so that I could not see him and realized after a closer look at self, that I was far worse off than the one I was about to examine.
