Conditions Of Truth
Let us muse again today from Colossians 1:5-6 and Paul’s thoughts on the Word Of Truth. David said in Psalm 138 that God had magnified the Word above His name. Paul gives us two conditions that tells of our reception of His Word. One is the hearing reception. Paul speaks twice of the evident fact that they had heard the Word. The word means to hear with anticipation of obeying. It also means to give an audience because it has come into the ears. Jesus said, on numerous occasions, ‘He that hath ears, let him hear.’ These are not the ears on the head but the ears of the heart. The other condition is one of a heeding reception. Paul said that there was proof of their hearing for it was bringing forth fruit in their life. Let us compare our hearing with the fruit in our life. If there is no fruit, we may need to clean out our spiritual ears or check and see if we have ears to hear what thus sayeth the Lord.
