Fellow Servant And Faithful Minister
Let us muse today from Colossians 1:7-8 where Paul introduces us to a fellow servant by the name of Epaphus. The word ‘fellow servant’ is the same as a fellow slave. Epaphus was the Pastor of the church at Colossae. Because of the great attack of the Gnostics how it must have encouraged Epaphus to have been placed on an equal level with the apostle Paul. He is also called a ‘faithful minister’ who has shared with Paul what is going on at the church. The word ‘minister’ is one who waits tables and cleans up the messes of others. Epaphus had not been a talebearer but he only told Paul of their love in the spirit. It was a love of God that was shed abroad in their hearts by the Holy Ghost. What a church, faithful Pastor, and loving congregation. There is no better combination.
