All Dressed Up With Somewhere To Go

Let us begin for the next several days to muse from Colossians 3:12-17 and the thought, all dressed up with somewhere to go. He begins this section in verse 12a, with the phrase put on. This is the third time it is used. God is leaving the mark of the triune Godhead on our changed lives. As the old man was known by the rags of his habits may the new man be known by the robes of his Holiness. He calls us who have a new man the elect of God. Many of our day hate that biblical term. It means to prefer one over another. It means to pick out from a group. Moses said He didn’t choose Israel because they were greater in number because they were the fewest of all people. He chose them simply because He loved them. Paul said He chose us and placed us in His Son before the foundation of the world.
