Overheated Oven Metaphor
Let us in muse today from Hosea 7:1-4 and the metaphor of an over heated oven. The Lord tells Israel in verse two that all their sins are ever before Him. The Lord says that they are adulterers. Oh how adultery is rampant in our nation today. It used to be we found it much in the world, but not anymore. We find it is in a great amount in the church, committed by those behind the pulpit and those sitting in the pew. The Lord says there adultery reminds him of an over heated oven. When you open the door of the oven it burst into a full-blown fire. It seems God’s so-called people have no control over their passions and appetites and they quickly burn with sexual passions. Solomon said in Proverbs 25:28 he that hath no ruled over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
