The Command Blow The Trumpet

Let us  muse today from Hosea 8:1 and the command to blow the trumpet. God’s command for the trumpet to be put  to the lips is mentioned in verse one. The trumpet was used in Numbers 10 to announce three occasions. One was to assemble people for special meetings, to sound an alarm, and to proclaim the charge into a war. This particular sounding of the trumpet in our text was for an alarm. I went to military school where everything we did was guided by the different sounds of the bugle call. When the Lord sounds the heavenly trumpets  it will announce all three of these occasions at one. It will call all the redeemed to meet the Lord in the air. It will sound an alarm of great tribulation for those who are left behind. It will sound a declaration of war by God upon the earth. I wonder if the angel Gabriel has the trumpet ready to put to his lips?
