A Dark Day

Let us muse today from Joel 2:1 and 11 in the section I have entitled a purposeful day. In these verses Joel mentions our theme phrase day of the Lord on two occasions. He tells us in verse one that it is nigh at hand.  Let us be reminded that our Lord’s coming is nigh even at the door. We are told that it will be a dark day when this Assyrian army comes. They will come in verse two like a morning coming up over the mountains. Oh, how the day of the Lord will come suddenly and without any warning. No wonder Jesus said be ye also ready for in such and hour as you think not the Son of man cometh.
