Rend Your Hearts

Let us muse today from Joel 2:12-17 in a section I have entitled a purposeful day. We told you a day or so ago the Lord during this day would ask them to do three things. One we have already considered was blow the trumpet. Today we will see that He asked them to rend their hearts. It would very simple for them to put on sackcloth and prostrate themselves in the religious activity, but here He had asked them to do something that only He can do in and through them. The sacrifice of God or a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart these O, God you will not despise. Our Lord is certainly drawn to a humble heart of repentance,but do remember repentance is a gift from God.
