In That Day

Let us muse today from Joel 3:1-16 and a section I have entitled a promise day. We have looked already at prior to that day, let us look now at the subject in that day. Joel uses the word captivity to describe the judgment upon the Gentile nations here. The word means take the fortune of one and give it to another. Joel mentioned some sins the Gentiles have committed against God’s people the Jews. The Gentiles cause the Jews to be a scattered people, sold them into slavery, treated them like cheap merchandise, plundered their land, stole their wealth, and killed millions  of them in cold blood. God will not take lightly the treating of His people with contempt. Martin Luther said there were two days we should never forget, one was today and the other was that day.
