Vengeance On Tyre

Let us muse today from Amos 1:9-10 and a section I have entitled God’s vengeance. In these verses Tyre steps over God’s mercy line in the phrase for three transgressions and for four. Tyre has been a friend of Israel since the days of David. King Hiram signed a friendship treaty with David. They have broken that treaty and ravished a town of Israel and sold its citizens into slavery to the Edomites. Amos says God will burn them to the ground which is accomplished by the Chaldeans under Nebuchadnezzar. This old country fig pincher I would imagine has the whole countryside buzzing with his prophecy by this time.
