Judgment Upon Judah
Let us muse today from Amos 2:4-5 and a section I have entitled judgment upon Judah. The Jewish nation was divided into two-part since the days of Solomon. Israel had 10 tribes and dwelt in the north. Amos was primarily a prophet to Israel. Judah had 2 tribes and dwelt in the south. Most of the righteous kings came from the line of Judah including Christ. Amos must have made Israel’s day when in verses 4-5 he turns the judgment gun on Judah. The phrase for three transgressions and for four brings up God’s mercy line being crossed by Judah. They have committed the greatest spiritual evil. They have turned their backs on God’s word and failed to obey it. They even believe their own lies and for this God sends the fire of judgment that brings down the palaces of Jerusalem. Let us cry out with Psalms 119: 5 O, that my ways may be directed to keep thy statutes.
