Woe To The Simple
Let us begin to muse from Amos 5:18-6:14 and a section I have entitled the woes of God. The word woe is a word of warning to stop one in their tracks and cause their attention to be turned toward the Lord. The first woe is mentioned in the 5: 18-27 and it is a woe to the simple. Seems the people of Amos day were desiring for the day of the Lord. They only saw it is a time when they would be on the top and their enemies on the bottom. I wonder how many in the church today see the Lord’s return with no thought of what they’re wishing for. I noticed Amos remands them this day will be a day of dispare seen in 5:18. Do we not know that we will be taken out of this world to stand before the Lord and give an account of everything we have done. In 18b and 20 I see Amos tells us it will be a day of darkness. We are told in verse 17 the Lord will not pass over the land, but through the land. I see in verse 19 Amos reminds us it will be a day of doom. This day of the Lord will begin the day of judgment for many of my friends and family. Let us not be quick to pray thy kingdom come unless we are sure we are ready to meet the Lord face-to-face now.
