Woe To The Settled

Let us muse today from Amos 6:1-2 were Amos mentions another woe from God. The word woe is a warning word. The first was a woe to the simple. Today we find a woe to the settled. The text in verse one says they were at ease in Zion. They became very complacent and felt that judgment was away down the road for them. In verses 3-7  Amos tells us they felt that it could not happen during their day. In verses 5-7 it seems they were full of the pleasure of eating, drinking, and being  merry, when God came with judgment. It sounds close to the thinking of our day. Vance Havner said one time he was having dinner with some folks at a restaurant when he remarked the light was so bad he could hardly see. In a short while he could see fairly well and remark isn’t it strange how easy it is to become accustomed to the dark. Church, is this where we find ourselves today, becoming accustom to the dark.
