Final Declaration By Amos

Let us muse today from Amos 8:1-3 and a section I have entitled a final declaration by Amos. The first part of the declaration is a clear statement of the end is coming. He says of Israel they are like a basket of ripe summer fruit. God has found them ripe for judgment. Amos tells them in verse three the only music they will hear at the Temple is a funeral dirge, because they will stack the dead bodies on every hand. Oh what will America do when God says that the end is near. Let us remember the mournful words of Jeremiah 8:20 the harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.
