Anticipating Prayers
I hope you will continue to muse with us through I Thess. The theme is “While Waiting For The King”. The coming of the Lord is in all five chapters. In chapter one we find the thought of “Waiting With Anticipation”. In verses 2-3 Paul tells us in order to wait with anticipation, we must offer anticipating prayers. In verse two the words, “We give thanks to God always for you”, tells us it is a prayer of appreciation. While we wait for Him may our focus be of others and not our self. I find that it is a prayer of awareness. Paul says I remember you always and make mention of you. He has made himself aware of the needs of others far above his own needs. My how that will help us as we wait. What does Paul make himself aware of? He is aware of there work of faith. He looks upon their growth in becoming more like Christ. He is aware of their labour of love. Paul focused in what they had done for the Lord and not his own works. He was aware to of their patience of hope. Paul was thrilled with the fact they were waiting with confident expectations. I see in the words, “… in the sight of God the Father”, it was a prayer of approval. As I wait for the Lord to come may my one desire be to hear Him say, ” Well done thy good and faithful servant”.
