The Day Of The Lord Pictured In Jewish History

Let us begin today to muse from Zephaniah 1:1-2:4 and the day of the Lord pictured in Jewish history. Many asked what will the day of the Lord be like? In this text Zephaniah takes three happenings from Jewish history to describe what it will be like. In 1:1-7 he tells us the day of the Lord will be like the devastating flood. In verse two the word consume means to sweep all away completely. These verses are probably a reference to Noah’s flood when God removed all living things from the earth that were not safe in the ark. He probably sent around 3 billion people to hell with their clothes on. This is but a snapshot of the final day of the Lord. I am glad to be safe in the ark of Christ.
