The Lord’s Announcement
Let us begin today to muse from Malachi 1: 1-5. I want to break the book down into two parts. The first will be called the Lord’s announcement and the second the Lord’s arrival. Malachi begins his book by announcing that the Lord had given him a word for Israel. This word that Malachi must deliver was a great burden upon his heart. Malachi looked at the world through the eyes of God. John Phillips said Malachi saw the world as a materialistic, secularist, smug, wrapped in the grave-clothes of dead religion, divorce prone, calloused about the poor, and with an airy dismissal of God’s presence type people. It sounds like Malachi was written for today.
