Peter’s Learning Of Discernment

Let us muse again today from Matthew 14:27-28 and Peter’s perception problem. I am pondering today Peter’s learning of discernment. It is here in verse 27 our Lord says to  them be of good cheer, it is I, be not afraid. Peter’s response to Him was if it be Thou bid me come to Thee on the water. I was interested in the word if which indicates Peter has no idea that it is Him. These words of fear not and be of good courage should be to an immature Christian the words of Christ. They should have at the least known the sound of His voice. Oh how sight living let us miss Him when He speaks to us through His promises.
