Request For Keeping

Let us continue to muse today from John 17:11 and the high priestly prayer. In our verse of study for today we find a request for keeping. Our Lord prays for us His people that the Father would keep us through His name. The word keep means to keep the eye upon, to fortress about like a military sentry, and the root is to keep unmarried. The last definition to keep unmarried is not an earthly marriage but a spiritual marriage of falling in love with this world and losing sight of our future marriage to the Son of God.
