Musing Through Matthew-Look Who Is King

Let us muse again today from Matthew 2:1 and the theme of Jesus the King. I draw our attention today to look who is the King. We’re told in our text that Herod is King. He is an Edomite made king by Augustus. He is full of falsehood and cruelty but history calls him Herod the great. In his 35th year Jesus comes on the scene to fulfill Jacob’s prophecy in Genesis 49 when he said, the scepter has departed from Judah and the lawgiver from between His feet and therefore now Shiloh will come an unto Him shall the gathering of the people be. Our God may take thousands of years of history to fulfill something He has said but rest assured He will dot His i and cross His t.
