Musing through Matthew-Why A Fast?

Let us muse again today from Matthew 4:2 and the theme of Jesus the King. Why would Jesus enter into a fast 40 days leaving Him hungry and without strength before His combat with Satan himself? He did not fast for mortification but to humble Himself, to be alone, and destitute of strength. He desired to show His people that at His weakest state Satan had no power over Him to conquer or make Him to sin. What a mighty Savior we serve. Let us remember in our hour of temptation Christ dwells in us in all of His might and power to cause us to be more than conquerors.
