Musing Through Matthew-The Beatitudes

Let us begin to muse today from Matthew 5:3 and the theme of Jesus the King. In our text today we find in the first beatitude the word blessed. The word itself means great happiness and security. It is the perfect happiness and inner peace of soul that is only experienced and enjoyed by one who is in heaven. The King tells us in these simple statements this heavenly happiness can be enjoyed by one in an earthly state.
