Musing Through Matthew- The Eighth Beatitude

Let us muse again from Matthew 5:10 and the theme of Jesus the king. In our text we find the eighth beatitude. It is a peculiar blessing for here we find the only homage wicked people pay to the righteous is to persecute them. Let us be assured those who are persecuted for Christ sake have as their present possession the kingdom of heaven. Daniel and the three Hebrew boys were thrown into persecution because of their love for the Lord, but while in the midst of suffering they experienced the manifested presence of Christ. When we are so honored to suffer for the cross of Christ let us to rejoice that He is in our midst.
