Musing Through Matthew- Yield Is The Watch Word

Let us muse again today from Matthew 5:41 and the theme of Jesus the King. Today our Lord confronts us with the truth of yielding when He says, “If one ask you to go one mile with him go with him two”. It was the custom of that day for a soldier passing by to demand one to carry his pack if he was to pass a house. If one in that house was a Godly Christian he would have a mile marker and two-mile marker on the road and he would go beyond the two-mile marker. One who knows the Lord intimately always goes beyond the required standard of reasonable service. Our Lord always went a little further of which He so displayed at Calvary.
