Musing Through Matthew- Giving And Lending

Let us  muse again today from Matthew 5:42 and the theme of Jesus the King. In our text today our King Jesus deals with the subjects of giving and lending. The word says to give to anyone who ask you for something. No miser can be a follower of Christ but in this day we live in we must have a spirit of discernment less we encourage idleness. Let us lend to those who request to borrow from us. Do remember God’s Word in Exodus and Proverbs condemns charging interest on money lent to another. We should not use interest to get rich upon the backs of the poor. Oh how many people and institutions have pressed others into poverty by their high interest rates on loans. Our Lord is not pleased for any of us to be slaves to another because of money we owe and neither does He want us to be the cause of the slavery because of the interest we charged.
