Musing Through Matthew-Vain Repetition And Prayer

Let us muse again today from Matthew 6:7-8 and the theme of Jesus the King. Our Lord brings to our attention today the subject of vain repetition and prayer. Let us not think we shall be heard for our much words. Let us not be as the Catholics praying the same statement over and over while pushing beams on a rosary chain. The Christian and his prayer is not measured by the weight of the length of his words but is measured by the burden of his heart. God is not impress so much by long prayers. Some of the greatest most moving prayers have been very short such as Peter’s prayer while drowning, Lord help me. Then there is the wordless prayer prayed by Nehemiah in Nehemiah 2:4. God does not want our prayer to be a conveying of information for He knows what we have need of before we ask. He just wants us to talk and fellowship with Him that we may become one in Him and He in us.
