Musing Through Matthew-The Model Prayer

Let us muse again today from Matthew 6:9 and the theme of Jesus the King. Our Lord has dealt in this section with many vices that may attach themselves to our prayers now He offers for us a model prayer. It has been called by some the Lord’s prayer. I feel John 17 should obtain the title the Lord’s prayer and this one the model prayer. In our text for today the model prayer begins by giving the Father a place of high regard and reverence. He must be revealed to us as our Father denoting a personal relationship. We must also while realizing He is our Father at the same time we must also see that He resides in heaven as the sovereign over all. When we begin our prayers by lifting Him up we are hollowing or giving great authority and adoration to who He is. I fear many of our prayers begin with give us this day our daily bread and not hollowed be His name .
