Christ’s Knowledge Of This Church

Let us muse from Revelation 2, verses 2 and 3 and see Christ’s Knowledge Of This Church. He begins these remarks with the words ‘I know’. The phrase means to be fully aware because one is looking. Let this be a warning to the church we attend that our Lord is looking. What does He see in our churches? I notice He sees in this church a ‘laboring work’ for His name sake. The word ‘labor’ means a work that causes great pain and reduces the strength. He also commends them for their ‘patience‘. The word means one who stays under with cheerful endurance. The word also deals with ones ability to be still and wait. This is certainly a quality needed at the church house today. They also had a ‘hatred for evil’ and religious liars. May the Lord give us a holy discernment for those who seek to deceive God’s people. He also commended them for ‘not fainting’. The word means to become weary in well doing. Our Lord is looking at the churches we attend. What would be His remarks if He were to record them?
