In verse 17a Paul offers himself as a pattern. The word &#8216;<em>follower<\/em>&#8216; means to follow the model pattern. Paul is not an egotist but in humility he is stating what God has done in and through him. It seems he is saying <em>&#8216;follow me as I follow Christ&#8217;<\/em>. In 17b he says &#8216;<em>mark<\/em> <em>them who have walked the walk, talked the talk, and lived the life<\/em>.&#8217; They are the ones who live the words, &#8216;Footprints of Jesus that make the pathway glow!
