{"id":140,"date":"2009-01-07T11:58:53","date_gmt":"2009-01-07T11:58:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tomgilliam.wordpress.com\/?p=140"},"modified":"2023-09-01T00:29:46","modified_gmt":"2023-09-01T00:29:46","slug":"hopes-weight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tomgilliam.com\/?p=140","title":{"rendered":"Hope&#8217;s Weight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>We muse today on Hebrews 6: 18-20 which says, &#8220;&#8230; we might have a strong consolation who have fled for refuge to lay hold up the<em> hope<\/em> set before him: Which <em>hope <\/em>we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enter within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us\u00a0entered, even Jesus&#8230;&#8221; The anchor is a weight which steadies the boat\u00a0 on course. I see here a <em>blessed weight<\/em>. This anchor of <em>hope<\/em> is tied on one end to Christ on His throne and the other end \u00a0is tied to me. O what a blessed assurance of\u00a0 Jesus is mine. I see in our text a <em>buoyant weight<\/em>in the words &#8220;sure and steadfast&#8221;. These are words to describe buoyancy. You might say what&#8217;s that? Ivory Soap has buoyancy, press it under, it just pops back up. Then\u00a0 we find the <em>becoming<\/em>\u00a0 <em>weight<\/em>. Our Lord while sitting on His throne prays for me and at the same time pulls\u00a0 me to himself. How does one know he is pulling us in. One was flying \u00a0a kite in the fog and clouds, all\u00a0that could be seen was the string in the boys hand. One asked how do you know you have a \u00a0kite up there? The boy said because I feel a tug on the other end.
