Let us look today from verse 2 and <em>The Purpose Behind Trials<\/em>. The phrase <em>&#8216;count it all joy&#8217;<\/em> gives us the key to understanding the purpose behind trials. The word &#8216;joy&#8217; means calm delight, cheerful rest, and to have the chin up when everything says to look down. The word &#8216;count&#8217; means to place before the mind for consideration. During a time of trials what you choose to think upon will determine\u00a0whether or not\u00a0you will have joy. &#8216;Count it all joy&#8217; is a tall order in the midst of trials but let us remember our Lord said of His cross &#8216;that it was the joy that was set\u00a0before Him&#8217;.
