In verse 17 we have the phrase <em>&#8216;he sent a man&#8217;<\/em>. The phrase speaks of God ordaining the going of Joseph down into Egypt by way of a wound by his brothers. In verse 18 we have the word &#8216;<em>hurt<\/em>&#8216; which is our word for an inflicting pain. In verse 18 the phrase <em>&#8216;laid in iron<\/em>&#8216; is a hurt that reaches to the depths of our soul and spirit. It is clear Joseph is dealing with a wounded spirit. In verse 19 the overall purpose of such a wound is to <em>try Joseph with the Word of God<\/em>. May our wounds drive us to His Word.
