In Matthew 6:12 I find a <em>Connecting Declaration<\/em>. This is a simple statement, but simply profound. The statement is &#8216;And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.&#8217; There is also here a <em>Connecting Pattern<\/em>. The key word in this verse is small but big in its meaning. It is the word &#8216;as&#8217;. It connects two like phrases. You cannot have His forgiveness unless you are willing to forgive others. This is God&#8217;s standard of forgiveness.
