Look with me at<em> &#8220;the type of this \u00a0prayer&#8221;.<\/em> The text says we <em>give thanks<\/em>&#8230; praying always for you. This was a prayer of thanks The word means to be grateful for another, to express gratitude for one. It also means to shower favour on one. Oh, how we need a grateful heart towards even to those who have treated us unfairly. In almost every letter Paul wrote, he express some thought of thanksgiving for that church. He even gave thanks for the church at Corinth. a church in bad need of correction. I notice <em>&#8220;the to of this prayer&#8221;.<\/em>\u00a0 This prayer was address to the \u00a0God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Once again he uses these titles as ones who are coequal, one and the same person.
