Paul\u00a0 in Colossians 3:1-4 \u00a0gave us the positive side of our position in Christ and he now turns to the real work of living out what we have in Him. The first thought that Paul brings up is in verse five is\u00a0where he says,<em><strong>\u00a0mortify therefore your members which are\u00a0 upon the earth.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0The word mortify means to put death. Because we have died with Christ, He has given us the power to slay all fleshly desires that seek to control us. How can this be? Paul says in Romans six we must reckon ourselves dead to sin\u00a0and when we do sin\u00a0is rendered powerless over us. Let us take heart to this example with the sin of impure thoughts.\u00a0 When they come I go to the funeral home in my mind, get in a\u00a0coffin, let the thoughts come by again, and reckon myself dead to those thoughts.
