The early church was in the minority\u00a0in standing against owning slaves. The early church was more focused on the spread of the Gospel than in fighting social issues. A lady in Los Angeles once called J. Vernon McGee to ask his help in cleaning up the city, his response was that he was not interested in cleaning up the city. She asked him why not, his response was, God had called him to fish in that pond\u00a0and not to\u00a0clean it up.
