It is here we see God has <strong><em>a discipline of the present <\/em><\/strong>time\u00a0upon His\u00a0people. We see in\u00a0verses 1-2 <strong><em>the need\u00a0for discipline<\/em><\/strong>. We are told in verse one that they are <strong><em>feeding on the wind<\/em><\/strong>. The wind speaks of\u00a0vanity\u00a0or that which brings no nourishment. Because they can find no satisfaction for\u00a0their hunger\u00a0they make a covenant with the Assyrian people. <strong><em>God says I have a controversy with you<\/em><\/strong>. The Bible says, whom the Lord loves he chasten and scourges every son whom He receives.
