He wrote during the days of King\u00a0Uzziah over the southern kingdom of Judah, and\u00a0King \u00a0Jeroboam\u00a0 over\u00a0 the northern kingdom. Both of these\u00a0Kings were known for their rebellious spirit. You will remembered King Uzziah died as a leper. We are told that this coincided with an earthquake which happened two years before. Zechariah 14:5 mentioned this earthquake as one that put the people to\u00a0fleeing from the land. It must have been awful\u00a0for Zechariah to write about it 200 years later. In Amos 8:9 he mentions a total eclipse of the sun. The calculation of the astronomers puts this\u00a0 total eclipse as <strong><em>June 15, 763 BC<\/em><\/strong>.
