In these verses\u00a0<strong><em>Tyre<\/em><\/strong> steps over God&#8217;s mercy line in the phrase for<strong><em> three transgressions and for four<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0Tyre has been a friend of\u00a0Israel\u00a0since the days of David.\u00a0King\u00a0Hiram\u00a0signed a friendship treaty with David. They have broken that\u00a0treaty and ravished a town of Israel and sold its citizens into slavery to the Edomites. Amos says God will burn them to the\u00a0ground which is accomplished by the Chaldeans under Nebuchadnezzar. <strong><em>This\u00a0old country\u00a0fig pincher\u00a0I would imagine h<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>as the whole countryside buzzing with his prophecy by this time.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Let us muse today from\u00a0Amos 1:9-10 and a\u00a0section I have entitled God&#8217;s vengeance.
