Let us begin today to muse from\u00a0Amos chapter 4 and\u00a0some sins we overlook<\/em><\/strong>. In verses 1-2 the first\u00a0sin\u00a0Amos deals with is the sin of luxury<\/em><\/strong>. Luxury is a desire for the\u00a0possessions of things above and beyond that which is needed. Many of the nations of the world see what we consider as a necessity to them is a luxury. In verse one he calls the women of that day\u00a0who were living in luxury\u00a0 a kine or heifer. If this terminology was used today by preachers\u00a0they would be run all. The cows of Bashan\u00a0were known for their beauty. These ladies\u00a0were using their wealth as\u00a0a stepping stone to crush down the poor. In verse two God said he would put\u00a0a cattle hook in their lip\u00a0and lead them away into captivity.\u00a0The sin of luxury\u00a0does not come when we own a lot of possession but when our possessions own us\u00a0and a person’s success is judged by how much stuff\u00a0they owns.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
