The word woe is a\u00a0warning word. The first was a\u00a0woe to the simple. Today we find a woe to the\u00a0settled. The text in verse one says they were at ease in Zion. They became very complacent and felt that judgment was away down the road for them. In verses 3-7 \u00a0Amos tells us they felt that it could not\u00a0happen during their day. In verses 5-7 it seems they were full of the pleasure of eating, drinking,\u00a0and being \u00a0merry, when God came with judgment. It sounds close to the thinking of\u00a0our day.\u00a0Vance Havner\u00a0said one time he was having dinner with some folks at a restaurant when he remarked the light was so bad he could hardly see. In a short while he could see fairly well and remark isn&#8217;t it strange how easy it is to become accustomed to the dark.
