The <strong><em>political and religious authorities<\/em><\/strong> of that day were the ones that Amos struggled with. In verse\u00a010\u00a0Amaziah the priest told\u00a0the king\u00a0give\u00a0no heed to\u00a0Amos word. He said he was not trust worthy. Amaziah was a false priest. Amaziah told\u00a0Amos in verses 12 to get out of the area because it was only for the elite and Amos was but a fig picker. In verses 14-17 Amos\u00a0spake to the priest and king. He told them he was a God called prophet. He told the\u00a0king judgment was coming. He told the\u00a0king he would\u00a0die far from home while in captivity. He told him his son would die\u00a0and his wife would become\u00a0a prostitute\u00a0in order to take care of herself. Amaziah had a position in\u00a0wealth but Amos had the Word of God. Amaziah served\u00a0the king of Israel\u00a0but Amos the\u00a0King of King.
