We are told in verse three that Jonah went<strong><em> down <\/em><\/strong>to Joppa. In verse three we are told that he went <strong><em>down<\/em><\/strong> into the ship. In verse five we are told that Jonah went <strong><em>down deep<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0into the ship. In verse 15 the word <strong><em>down<\/em><\/strong> is not\u00a0used but certainly implied when they threw him <strong><em>down<\/em><\/strong> into the sea and then <strong><em>down<\/em><\/strong> into a great fish. There is only one conclusion to be gained from going away from God&#8217;s presence and\u00a0that is you&#8217;re going <strong><em>down<\/em><\/strong>. The fearful thing is that there is no bottom to how far you can go <strong><em>down<\/em><\/strong>. What is\u00a0one to do\u00a0if he senses he is going <strong><em>down<\/em><\/strong>? He must raise the white flag and plea for mercy.
