Very little is known about Nahum. One thing we know he was from a town called Elkosh. We cannot with certainty even know where this city was at. We do know that he was virtually unknown to this world and that God favored him with a position to announce the fall of Nineveh the greatest Assyrian enemy to Israel. We do know that\u00a0Nahum&#8217;s name means compassion.\u00a0When Jonah first announced their fall God spared\u00a0them because they repented. It is 100 years later and God will destroy them this time. We find here the patience, long-suffering, and compassion of God&#8217;s \u00a0mercy. We are reminded that God&#8217;s wheels\u00a0of judgment turn slow, but\u00a0they are\u00a0precise and we&#8217;ll accomplish what\u00a0they sets out to do.
